Master Moy Yat Tung once again visited the Omaha school for a weekend of workouts and interaction with his “grand students.” The weekend workout focused on some of the details of Ving Tsun’s U-Mah (phonetic) concept—loosely translated as whole body connectedness—as an extension of the series of kung fu “conversations” that Master Moy Yat Tung began with Omaha’s Ving Tsun community in July of 2003. Attendees received hands-on kung fu instruction directly from Master Moy Yat Tung. Ving Tsun enthusiasts from Chicago, IL, Iowa City, IA, Lincoln, NE, St. Louis, MO, and Virginia Beach, VA attended.
Grandmaster Moy Tung Seminar
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School traveled to the Moy Yat Ving Tsun School of Iowa City for a weekend seminar conducted by Grandmaster Moy Tung. Over the course of the three-day seminar, Grandmaster Moy Tung’s “grand students” and “great-grand students” participated in extensive kung fu workouts, including physical training, lectures, and social events. The topic of Grandmaster Moy Tung’s small-group workshops was “Advanced Basic Training.”
School BBQ
Students celebrated the “End of Summer” with a barbecue hosted by Jim and Nora Johnson. Following a cookout, students spent time around a campfire sharing stories and listening to music.
Lincoln, NE Workout
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School visited Lincoln, NE to join the Lincoln Moy Yat Kung Fu Club for a day of workouts. The workout gave both Omaha and Lincoln kung fu students an opportunity to train their kung fu with “different” training partners allowing them an opportunity study their kung fu “under another light” in order to refine their technique further. Before heading back to Omaha all participants sat down and shared a meal.
Virginia Beach Workout
Ving Tsun students from across the United States gathered in Virginia Beach, VA for a week of training conducted under the supervision of Master Moy Yat Tung. The Omaha School was represented. Students participated in extensive conditioning exercises, forms training, and two-man workouts (including practicing forms and playing chi sao at the beach and in the ocean). Students also made a day trip to the kung fu school in Richmond, VA, to train with Grandmaster Moy Tung.
